How We Help You Using Acupuncture
According to Chinese medical philosophy, acupuncture restores balance and smooths circulation to the energy flow, or Qi, in the body. Qi flows through the body via invisible pathways called meridians or channels. When the Qi is flowing smoothly, there is neither pain nor signs of illness.
Acupuncture is not like getting a shot. With a hypodermic injection, discomfort can be caused when a foreign substance is injected into the body. The very fine sterilized needles used by acupuncturists are about as small as a single strand of hair and are less than one-quarter the thickness of a hypodermic needle. While most people feel absolutely nothing when single-use acupuncture needles are inserted into specific points on the body, some may feel increased warmth, a slight ache or perhaps a tingling sensation.
In all, acupuncture is a relaxing experience. So much so that some people even fall asleep while needles are working!
The number of treatments needed varies by the person and the condition being treated. Generally, 5 to 15 treatments will resolve most acute problems. Chronic degenerative conditions may require treatment over a period of time. Regardless of the condition, acupuncture treatments are helpful to maintain health and balance.
